Website design rates and development costs vary dependent upon exact requirements, and people seeking to have websites developed often do not know what to expect when they make an enquiry. The Konsultant likes to be up front about standard rates, because in the past unrealistic enquirers have expected to pay no more than £100 for an 'all singing and dancing', fully optimised, professional website. If you were not already aware, you can be assured that this is very much an unreasonable requirement. If you just want cheap rates and you are not concerned about quality then The Konsultant is definately not the website design company for you.

What is on offer from The Konsultant is cost effective, functional websites created via valid industry standard methods and techniques, at highly competitive rates. The website designer has many years professional website development experience, and offers website advice, consultancy and a personal service throughout.

Good website design, application development, and search engine optimisation takes a lot of time and experience, so, whilst The Konsultant does try to keep website design and development rates as low as possible, the charges must be realistic. The Konsultant's marketplace is amongst SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and self employed individuals where large budgets are seldom available, so rates are priced accordingly.

1. Single Page 'Business Card' Website
Most businesses now recognise that they need a website. But some businesses are not ready for a full website or they have no real content to place there. In this situation The Konsultant can create a single page website, with some information about what you do and your full contact details, including an email link.
Single page website: £199

Please note: The cost of a website is not proportionate to the number of pages required. A single page website still requires layout and graphic design. Developing the standard "look" and the graphics for a single page can take as long as it does for 100 pages.

2. Basic 'Brochure' Website
This is a basic 3-5 page website with an enquiry form, where you provide the required content. The Konsultant can customise the design using your own company logo, etc, or by creating a simple website brand for you. Suitable images can also be sourced.
Basic brochure website: £250-£400

Please note: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is not included. A basic SEO package covering 2-3 relevant keyword phrases can be included in the build of your website for £50 - £100.

3. Advanced 'Brochure' Website
A step-on from a basic brochure website, this may simply be further pages illustrating service or product ranges. You may wish to include an image gallery, document downloads, a password protected area, or perhaps a specific server-side/database application.
Advanced brochure website: £450-£800

Please note: Server-side/database applications (i.e: booking systems, property rentals, job vacancies, etc) are varied in complexity and costing. £500 should be your absolute minimum website design budget with the possibility that this could run much higher, dependent upon your exact requirements.

4. Basic Ecommerce Website
Perhaps you require a brochure website but you also need to sell a single item or very small number of items online using PayPal or a similar payment processing service? Or perhaps you need to take variable payments online for services you provide?
Basic Ecommerce website: £400-£700

5. Full Ecommerce Website
In order to create websites with full ecommerce capability, bespoke front-end design, content management and a host of client side functionality and capability, The Konsultant customises and develops a number of ecommerce systems, including the very flexible shopping cart software – Zen Cart™ and ClickCartPro®. These are open source applications, which deliver fully functioning ecommerce solutions, simply requiring an experienced web developer, like The Konsultant, to customise for you. This will supply you with a fantastic shopping cart website, which runs on the latest technology (.php and MySQL) with full back-end administration, and everything else you require. i.e: customer accounts, order tracking, newsletter, gift certificates, discount coupons, sale prices, and much more...  

6. Content Management System (CMS)
If you are investing in any type of database application or full ecommerce website then you will almost certainly have access to a CMS as part of this development. However, if required, The Konsultant can make any basic brochure website user updateable via a simple to use CMS with a MS Word type interface allowing admin to login online and update content when required.
Content Management System: add £400

Please note: It is suggested that you only consider a CMS if necessary. i.e: If you are making regular updates to content. (See 7. Website Updates) Also, if you are planning Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for your website, then keyword based content needs to be safeguarded and not randomly edited.

7. Website Updates
The annual hosting & support package includes 4 hours of updates per year. If you have very small changes and do not utilise the support package then The Konsultant will still carry these out for you free of charge. Non-hosted websites and/or major changes to site structure (i.e: adding new pages to navigation) will quoted upon on an minimum hourly rate of only £25.00 per hour.

The Konsultant hopes that the above information and competitive costs give you some indication of what you can expect to pay for a website design project. However, please appreciate that it is difficult to generalise on website prices. Each person's requirement is different and website design prices can vary tremendously.
